Delivering the energy transition for jobs, growth and investment: Outcome of European Parliament and Commission Conference

The European Parliament and the European Commission organised a high-level conference on clean energy financing on 7 November. The conference tackled all aspects of clean energy: energy efficiency, energy infrastructure and renewables.

Significant investment is needed in the energy sector to help the EU achieve its ambitious climate change targets, which were agreed as part of the Paris Agreement. The Clean Energy for All Europeans package aims to set the legal framework to make this transformation possible.

According to EC estimates, an investment of €379 billion per year  will be needed by 2030 for energy efficiency, the production of renewables and infrastructure. This will require the joint management of public and private financing and there will be some critical decisions in the perspective of the EU multi-annual financial framework post-2020.
