Digital Europe Programme / Commission opens calls to invest €200 million in digital tech

The European Commission has just opened the 3rd set of calls for proposals of the Digital Europe Programme, under the 2021-2022 Work Programmes. The calls are open to businesses, public administrations, and other entities from the EU Member States and associated countries. This funding will see an investment of €170 million in particular in:

  • The deployment of common data spaces (e.g. data spaces for manufacturing, mobility and finance) that will facilitate cross-border data sharing for businesses, including small and medium size businesses (SMEs) and start-ups, and the public sector;
  • the development of an artificial intelligence (AI) platform to provide easy access for business and public administrations to trustworthy AI tools made in Europe;
  • as well as investment in specialised education programmes in the area of advanced digital technologies. A new call is also open for European Digital Innovation Hubs with additional €30 million, to support private companies, including SMEs and start-ups, and the public sector in their digital transformation.

The deadline for these calls is 24 January 2023 (with a deadline for the European Digital Innovation Hubs call being 16 November 2022). More information as regards applying for grants for these calls for proposals is available online.
