Universitat Politècnica de València applies for ECTP Membership

ECTP has the pleasure to welcome Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), which membership will be formally endorsed during the next ECTP General Assembly.

The UPV is a public, dynamic and innovative institution dedicated to research and teaching that, while maintaining strong bonds with the social environment in which it carries out its activities, advocates for a solid presence abroad. It is a young university, which celebrated its 50th anniversary during the 2018-2019 academic year.

Its community is made up of around 34,000 students, 3,600 lecturers and researchers and 1,500 administration and services professionals distributed among three locations in Alcoi, Gandia and València. The UPV includes 13 university centres, of which nine are higher technical schools, two are faculties and another two, higher polytechnic schools. In addition, it has a Doctoral School and three affiliated centres (Florida University, Berklee College of Music and EDEM Business School).

The UPV is currently considered a reference academic institution in Spain and Europe, being among top universities in Spanish academic rankings (U-Ranking 2021). Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings recognizes the UPV as the university with the greatest social and economic impact and best technological university in Spain. The ranking, based on commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), places the UPV as 12th in the world in clean and affordable energy and 22nd in climate action. In addition, the 2021 THE Rankings also place UPV as the best university in Spain in both SDG 9, "industry, innovation and infrastructure", and SDG 12, "responsible production and consumption".

The UPV has participated in 197 H2020 projects, 42 as coordinating entity, being partner in major European initiatives, such as several European partnerships and KICs (e.g. Circular Bio-based Europe, Made in Europe, Processes4Planet, Smart Networks and Services, and Climate-KIC, among others).

The Concrete Science and Technology University Institute (ICITECH-UPV) is a research institute at the Universitat Politècnica de València. It was established with a double objective: to promote quality research and to favour the transfer of research results to companies in the sector. ICITECH-UPV combines basic and applied research and a high transfer of knowledge to the industry.
