Yildiz Technical University applies for ECTP Membership

ECTP has the pleasure to welcome a new Applicant Organisation, which membership will be formally endorsed during the next General Assembly.

Yildiz Technical University (YTU) is one of the seven public universities situated in Istanbul, besides being the 3rd oldest university of Turkey with its history dating back to 1911. It is regarded as one of the best universities in the country, as well. The University has 11 Faculties, 2 Institutes, the Vocational School of Higher Education, the Vocational School for National Palaces and Historical Buildings, the Vocational School for Foreign Languages and more than 30,000 students.

The research project experience of YTU representatives related to digitalization and energy efficiency is summarized below:

  • The analysis of digitalization procedure of University Campuses (supported by YTU): The project aimed to investigate required technologies to enable digital transformation and to develop the digital twin of YTU. Output of the research was feasibility report for DT.
  • A Framework for Integrating Building Information Modeling and Big Data Analytics for Sustainable Energy Management in Buildings (supported by YTU): The project aimed to develop an integrated FM framework that brings BIM, BEPS, CFD and BOA together to enable energy efficient operation in the building, queries and analysis of FM KPIs.

Facility management (FM), with multiple disciplines to ensure functionality, comfort, safety and efficiency of the built environment by integrating people, place, process and technology, is another field of YTU research experience.
