Start date: 01.05.2023

Duration: 36 months

Coordinator: Engineering Ingegneria Informatica S.p.A.

Budget: 7.36 M€

Details

DEDALUS designs, develops, and demonstrates a SSH-driven, energy carrier-agnostic Demand Response (DR) ecosystem that spans from individual homes/apartments to entire buildings and districts. It aims to: (a) scale up residential consumer participation in DR; and (b) adapt to mono- or multi-energy carrier scenarios (electricity, heat, natural gas) while fostering social engagement within communities. The project deploys: 1) a Social Science Framework for incentives and nudging tools; 2) AI-based consumer clustering and segmentation; 3) Open APIs for DR-enabled smart appliances; 4) an adapted Energy DataSpace for interoperability and secure DLT/Blockchain-based data governance; 5) Digital Twins for flexibility planning; 6) comfort-based tools for elderly-focused serviced apartments; 7) flexibility management tools for buildings and energy communities; 8) optimal aggregation of flexible assets for district heating and power-to-heat systems; and 9) a Business Sandbox with sharing economy-driven business models. DEDALUS solutions are validated through 5 full-scale pilots and replicated by 2 Multipliers across 7 countries, involving energy and non-energy sectors, and stakeholders like social housing operators, aggregators, and DSOs. Capacity building and blueprints support policymakers and regulators in enabling market adoption and EU-wide DR replication.

List of achievements

Over the course of the project, the Dedalus framework will be applied, implemented, and validated in 7 real-life pilots across 7 countries.
